This program provides classes for women entering or re-entering the workplace. Club members act as mentors to students, meeting students after class to discuss what was presented in class and work on how to implement what was learned. Students may also possibly meet with their mentors between classes to work on skills learned. It will consist of three classes with a graduation ceremony at the end of the classes.
Children of all ages are served a hot lunch and get to meet and have their picture taken with Mr. & Mrs. Santa. After lunch, children can have their faces painted, be read a story, create an ornament in our craft room, play a game in the game room, or shop for Mom, Dad, Grandma & Grandpa in our shopping room, where nothing is priced over $.50 (and no Moms and Dads are allowed to peek!). Club members will then custom wrap each gift for the children, so they are ready to go under the tree. Adults can shop at our Cobweb Corner or Bake Sale as well.
Through the Cumberland County Improvement Authority, our club has “adopted” Silver Lake Road, between Old Deerfield Pike and Route 77. Twice a year, in spring and fall, club members get together on a Saturday morning, grab our gloves and trash bags, and head out. Teams walk up and down the roadway, collecting trash and helping to keep our little piece of Cumberland County beautiful.Previous service projects we have participated in are:
Habitat for Humanity — Our club has helped assist Habitat in building homes for needy families.
Code Blue — Provided dinner for local homeless program
International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women — we have recognized this day by holding a candlelight vigil to show our support.
