SOROPTIMIST HONORED AS SERVICE CLUB OF THE YEAR

The Vineland Service Clubs Council honored our Club as the Service Club of the Year at a dinner held at Mori's in Vineland. The Following is Diane Kolman's acceptance Speech on our behalf: Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Good Evening, I am Diane Kolman of Soroptimist International of Cumberland County. May I have our members join me at the podium, please. WE ARE A TEAM !! This is a great moment for all of those we serve. Thank you so very much for this wonderful honor and recognition for the great work we do in the communities. To tell you a little about us, we are an international organization in 120 countries throughout the world. In addition to being a strong volunteer in our communities, we are a group of women helping other women and girls by giving them the resources to create a positive change for themselves, their families, and in their communities. Our major program, the Women's Opportunity Award, offers financial support to women who as primary wage earners must enter or return to the workforce. These awards help women to cultivate new skills, further their education and regain their independence. Many of these women are survivors of abuse and have triumphed over very difficult challenges. In addition to the financial assistance, this program gives a sense of pride and accomplishment. If you know of any woman who fits this criteria, please ask us for an application. Self-sufficiency, empowerment, transformation and dreams. These are words that reflect the mission of Soroptimist. Our name means "Best for Women." That's our goal: to be women at our best helping other women to be their best. Where some see a world of trouble, despair, and hopelessness, we see a bright shining light where one woman is helping another woman lead a better life. We accept this award on behalf of you and all the women and children we serve. Thank you very much. Thank you to the Vineland Service Clubs Council.
